On May 9, 2006, we said goodbye to our beloved cat, Marcus, as he lost his brave fight against cancer. He was a big, longish-haired black kitty with the sweetest disposition you can imagine. One of my favorite writers, Anne Lamott, once described one of her dogs as "Jesus in a little fur suit," and that's kind of how I think of Marcus. So meek and loving and kind. We used to call him the Mighty Panther and the King of the Jungle. I truly hope he is living it up in Kitty Heaven at this very moment. Here's my post from not long after he died.
Rest in peace, my little buddy!

this is so sad... I am crying. I love my puppies and can not imagine... Bless your heart...
The way he would look at you sometimes...I swear it was almost human. It seemed like he had empathy. If anyone around the house was feeling down, he'd be there. His presence was so comforting. I'll always remember how loud it was when he purred! Just the best pet ever. We haven't yet been able to bring ourselves to get another pet, although we really do want one. A couple of years earlier we went through a similar experience with the dog my husband had from long before we were married, and we just felt emotionally (and financially!) drained from having cared for sick pets for so long. But I'm hoping to get back to the animal shelter soon to find a new pet to love.
All I can promise you is the pain will subside, eventually. My Stormin will be gone 4 years in August and just recently I noticed I don't tear up when I talk of him. God bless. Lisa
